Oysterfest 2018!

Oysterfest, an all-day celebration of the bivalve; that beautiful, pure, nutrient loaded, calorie neutral, aphrodisiac of a pearl in a shell! Oh, oysters.

Just as the seasons change and the cool evening breezes blow we are reminded of the Last Best Festival of the Year: Oysterfest! Could be brisk, though the last six years have been sunny and warm - either way, it will be a great day for oyster eating!  Event is rain or shine.

We're changing it up a bit for our 8th Annual Oyster Shucking Showdown, bringing authenticity and appreciation to the folks who shuck oysters in the Twin Cities on a daily basis - so besides some of the chefs, we will also be inviting the "shuckers" actually, only the best shucker of any house shucking oysters in the cities. BRING IT ON! Ever more competitive, the shuck-off is a highlight. 

Lots to see, learn, drink, eat and do...

Join us for a day packed with activities. Attend Oyster School, watch a band, grab a burger, get a crepe, drink a beer, eat oysters! Meander through shucking stations manned by prominent oyster farmers and our seasoned and saucy staff. 

Additionally, there will be a "Birth of an Oyster" tent & oyster school. Learn to shuck your own in an Oyster Shucking Tutorial. Learn about the 5 species. Learn about spat, and pairings, and brine, and sustainability, and everything oysters!

  • 12:00noon - 2:00pm Oysterfest - Platinum Pass Exclusive: gift bag upon arrival, very limited capacity early entry with access to farmers, unlimited oysters, educational pairing seminars, and more.

  • 2:30pm - Oyster Shucking Showdown (featuring local chefs and shuckers) 

  • Oyster School, Oyster Stout tasting & info session, how to shuck your own and more - specific times posted on day of event

... Enjoy the rest of the festival, walk around to the different shucking huts and meet the farmers, snap a pic, check out the pig roast, dance to some music, drink a beer, shuck an oyster. 

Summit Brewery returns as our sponsor and it's back… Summit Oyster Stout! Find out about its process and creation and be sure to enjoy a pint yourself.  It's a limited run, exclusively at Oysterfest with any remaining sold at the Meritage Oyster Bar until it runs out.  Such a treat!  Beer can be a perfect compliment to those jewels of the sea.

And, just in case you're hungry, there will also be a full menu of seafood shack standards available, such as; lobster rolls, fried clams, steamers, oyster po boys, burgers, etc, as well as both an outdoor Grill and the Meritage Crepe Stand.  This year Chef Klein & Chef Engelhart play with their new toy - the whole animal spit roast.  For this year's festival we will roast a whole pig.

In addition, we want to explore the many ways of eating oysters; on the half shell, smoked, grilled, fried and more!

Ticket Information & Purchasing

**Please note: for all ticket & wooden nickel purchases, please print your confirmation email, containing your order number, along with a valid ID for check-in. No physical tickets will be mailed, as they will all be received in Will Call format upon check-in.**

Platinum Passes $125
Gets you into the exclusive Platinum Pass holders time from 12:00- 2:00pm with relatively small group of festival goers for easy access to the three oyster farms for UNLIMITED oysters, a few beverages to boot, a shucking demonstration, music and more.

Oyster Passes $60
Best Value: a dozen oyster coins, a pint of beer ($49 value alone) and general entry at 2:00pm to the festival, the Oyster Pass is the perfect compromise/initiation/group outing and a great way to enjoy the day.  Access begins at 2:00pm with all sorts of options and activities, including local music (to be announced!) that will get the party really going.

General Entry $25
You're not an oyster eater, but you love festivals!  Or, you're just unsure of how many oysters you will eat.  Or, you just don't want to make the commitment, you want the option, and will add on as you go… this is the ticket for you.  Entry begins at 2:00pm.

Wooden Nickels
buy 1 or buy by the dozen...
These are the currency at Oysterfest.  All wooden nickels are valued at $3.75 (tax included at time of purchase), and most items at Oysterfest are 2-3 wooden nickels a piece.  So, if you are planning to eat from the Grill, Crepe Stand, or plan to try the numerous wines, beers or other options -  avoid the lines and get your currency in advance, we'll have them ready for you at check-in.
